I knew DSA. I had done 200+ LeetCode problems. I could explain system design on paper.

But the moment a real interviewer asked me "Walk me through how you'd design a URL shortener at scale" — I froze. Completely. Not because I didn't know. Because I had never actually said it out loud, under pressure, with someone judging me in real time.

What I Built Instead
